sjah83 Daring musical experiment by Aros E-V in this particular release! Choral music—religious chants—subdued to an electronic reinterpretation. I must admit that it's very original and it also makes me think about the origins of modern ambient/electronica as far as we know them. What's original and genuine? Probably it's the ability to combine & permute existing elements into something new... Favorite track: Isidore, Pt. 3.

PadraigC Gorgeous chant elements, parts of which sound Hari-Christina-type chanting, even though it's Benedictine chant originally. I feel time stretch back millennia when I play this ep, it's really drony and meditative.

about

Isidore is an elegy for hyper-rationalism, a gentle dissent to the systematizing of humankind.

Made from just six tape loops of Benedictine chanting, Isidore centers the human voice. It uses machinations of electronic music - distortion, reverb, pitch shift, delay - to stretch and sculpt its source sounds. The resulting juxtaposition asks: How far can we go before we’re irrevocably altered?

Aros E-V is the ambient music project of Minnesota-based sound artist Ryan Evans. Using tape loops, field recordings, and digital processing, he creates slow sound pieces that underline the passing of time.
